How To Stay On Track During The Holidays

Happy holidays, Sesh Fam! Tis the season for peppermint flavored everything, getting comfy and cozy, and embracing flexibility when it comes to your goals. We know that navigating the holidays can be a little bit stressful, so we’re here to help! Keep reading to unwrap all of our best tips and tricks for staying on track during the holidays.

GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF FLEXIBILITY

If you’re coming off of an Sesh Challenge, you may be used to training in the gym 5 days a week and completing 3 cardio sessions. With holiday plans and travel, that schedule may not be as feasible, but don’t sweat it! Mix things up with the workout generator because maintaining some level of activity is much better than throwing in the towel until after the holidays are over.

You can also continue getting after your goals from home or on the road with our home workout options. In addition to the home workouts in the workout generator, most of our 8-week programs have home versions, too. All you’ll need is a pair of dumbbells, a glute band, resistance bands, and of course, the Sesh app!

PUT WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL AT THE TOP OF YOUR WISHLIST

With holiday travel and gatherings with family and friends, tracking your macros perfectly and planning your workouts on a strict schedule can feel overwhelming. The good news is, there are still a lot of easy things you can do to maintain your healthy habits and feel your best when you can’t stick to a routine. The easiest things you can do are get in a gallon of water a day, prioritize protein at each meal, and try to get in some extra activity by getting in more steps than you normally do. Keeping these habits in check will help you maintain all of the progress you’ve made and you’ll still be able to enjoy all of the holiday festivities.

8 HOURS OF SLEEP WILL GET YOU ON THE "NICE" LIST

Never underestimate the power of being well rested! Whether you’re in a fat loss, maintenance, or muscle gain phase, getting approximately 8 hours of high quality sleep each night is key to seeing progress towards your goal. Now’s the perfect time to enjoy the laid back nature of the holidays and create a nighttime routine that you look forward to so that your rest and recovery can be just as impactful as your training sessions. Creating this habit now will set you up for success when you start working towards your goals in 2022, and we love being overachievers!

OH WHAT FUN IT IS TO PLAN ALL THE GOALS THAT YOU CAN SLAY!

Now’s the perfect time to ditch the “all or nothing” mentality and approach the holidays with consistency and sustainability. Expecting to perfectly track the macros is unrealistic, but you can still plan a little bit each day! Try to prepare one of your own meals each day and track it as you normally would. Outside of that, track unplanned meals by estimating what’s in them as best as you can. It definitely won’t be perfect, but that is totally ok. This practice will help you remain consistent so you can enjoy all of your faves during the holiday while still feeling fueled and balanced. Plus, maintaining the habit of tracking your macros will make it so much easier to get back in the swing of things.

REMEMBER WHAT IS IMPORTANT

While we love feeling our best and working towards our goals, we love making memories and spending quality time with our closest family and friends even more. Enjoy the peppermint mochas, holiday dinners, cheesy Lifetime movies, and pop all the champagne on New Years Eve, because the gym and the macros are always going to be there when you’re ready to get back to your regular routine. Most importantly, remember that a few weeks off of your regular goal-getting routine are not going to undo all of the progress and habits you’ve built. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season, Sesh Fam! ❤️
